Serendipitiouse Mistakes

I was trying out different keys for one of my songs last to see where the voice sounds better; in the C, regular tuning on the guitar, the melody comes across straining in the higher notes (it does go up to G). So, taken advantage of putting in new strings and tuning them up, I stopped on the way and recorded in the Key of Ab, then Bb and finally home at C. Well during the Oh part of the Bridge I had an accidental vocal sound very akin to, what I first thought was Native American flute, but later realized it was female throat singing. Wow, that is just the kind of sound(s) the song could use given its theme – it’s called Love Without Wings, and is about our inability to stop war in this world. Here’s to serendipity!

Mess with it long enough…

So I AM finally putting my websites together and that means a lot of details about the 1and1 servers, how directories work, etc. Lesson quickly learned: if actually mess with this stuff long enough and you don’t really need to call customer support, you can actually figure it out for yourself – really empowering. My favorite tools at this point: WebsiteBuilder (that’s what those filenes names wsb stand for); 1&1 Blog and WebspaceExplorer (awesome dude).

One Pain at a Time

You know that humans basically can only experience one physical pain at a time. Also, we can only experience one conscious thought at a time. And notice too, that as soon as we stop worrying about something we seem to start worrying about something else; something that had been there all along but which we had not focused on.

Therefore maybe we can, in fact, only worry or suffer over one thing at a time. There should be, as a consequence, a technique in here somewhere for controlling one’s worrying and mental pain.

There should be a song too, maybe “One Pain at a Time”?

music production?

“Music Production” has certain factory, mass production overtones. Words have overtones; a single word is like the fundamental note, but it resonates in different individuals, triggering other words and images–sometimes unleashing resonant peaks.

Music production, musicianship, the thing is, you got to get started; you can’t wait for the perfect word–cindo, santíssimo? to strike. Make a note, make a different one later; rearrange, exchange, discard, regurgitate, levitate, just don’t procastinate.

I am still here!

Going through an organization, phase consolidating files, eliminating computer noise, etc.

It’s the only way I can move forward. Last night I was listening to a CD I made for my kids, Take Two, and it really ain’t bad. The reason I haven’t published any thing or placed it up for downloads is because of the production falling slightly short.

I had a great singing lesson; my voice is apparently relaxing and I should sing with a lullaby tone.

Bass guitar

For your years I’ve been wanting to get a bass guitar. There’s something about the feel of an instrument in your hands that elicits a certain response, much unlike playing bass lines on the keyboard or on the guitar.
The strings are so thick, there’s a sense of power, of command. Since it’s active electronics I plug it right into my EMU soundcard and monitor it right off the my Alesis Monitor II. Something neat catches my hear? Record right into Cubase!

Ibanez Bass Guitar

It’s an Ibanez SRX3EXQM1 (!), made in Indonesia (I’m glad I’m helping putting those muslim people to work: BUILD GUITARS NOT BOMBS!). It was on sale at GuitarCenter for US$349 but it was the only one left, store display with a tiny dent, cost me $299! I like Guitar Center. It’s a gorgeous shaded blue, it’s sexy; I go around the house playing it (unplugged) in front of different mirros. It sound good unplugged – a sign that it’s a winner.
